Lake Garda

The largest of the lakes is Lake Garda, perhaps one of the most beautiful in Europe.

Measuring 370km2, the eastern shore is dominated and embellished by the long ridge of Monte Baldo, rising over 2,000m above the lake.
The northern part of the lake lies in the Lombardy region, bordered by the Alps and home to excellent skiing country.

The mild, predominantly Mediterranean climate of the lake is due to the thermal regulator effect of the lake. The lake acts as a gigantic solar panel, the ring of surrounding mountains retaining the heat. This creates a healthy microclimate, with air rich in oxygen and balsamic essences.

Along the lake´s shore lies a mixture of picturesque villages and towns, café society, local markets, and beautiful historic monuments, scanning prehistoric, Roman and medieval civilizations such as Sirmione, a stunning medieval village known as the jewel of Lake Garda.
